Philip Kell and Wallace Dinsmore have done an excellent job of putting a subject that is difficult for both doctors and patients to talk about, into plain English in a tasteful and good humoured way.
2002 BMA Book Competition Awards, Judges' Comments
Commended in the 2002 BMA Book Competition Awards, Popular Medicine Category
This nicely produced and clearly laid out book gives a good overview of the subject at a level which will be suitable for most patients. The text is visually appealing and supplemented by clear line drawings. It is down-to-earth and encourages sufferers to seek help, without raising unrealistic expectations. General Practitioners, urologists and specialist nurses in urology and diabetes can recommend it to sufferers with confidence. Unlike much information produced for patients, it answers questions rather than producing more, saving a lot of time in clinics.
